In the poem “One Perfect Rose” by Dorothy Parker, a rose is meant to symbolize the affection of an individual for the speaker. However a rose as perceived in the speaker 's eyes means little to nothing.
  2. Vutaxe says:
One perfect rose. I knew the language of the floweret; 'My fragile leaves,' it said, 'his heart enclose.' Love long has taken for his amulet One perfect rose. Why is it no one ever sent me yet One perfect limousine, do you suppose? Ah no, it's always just my luck to get One perfect rose.

Love in One Perfect Rose by Dorothy Parker and Cinderella’s Diary by Ron Koertge. Words 6 Pages. A rose is the ultimate yet simplest sign of love. Billions are sold on Valentine’s Day and countless numbers are sold to epitomize a lover’s feelings throughout the year. The delicate petals, harsh and unforgiving thorns, vivid and deep.

"One Perfect Rose" is a love poem alright, but not of the ahem, usual variety. That's right. There's no "Oh thank you so much for the flowers" in here. Nope. It's all about how the rituals of love have become cliché. Perfect roses? Everybody in love sends those, and, frankly, it's a little boring.

One Perfect Rose Summary. The speaker's man has sent her one flower since they met. It's a nice flower, and it can speak, too (cool!). The flower tells the speaker that her fragile leaves enclose the man's heart. The speaker notes that people in love have used flowers forever, and asks why nobody has ever given her a perfect limousine.
  6. JoJora says:
"One Perfect Rose" is at once both a charming and depressing poem. The speaker complains that it is always just her luck to get one perfect rose. Flowers are nice, but they seem sort of antique in a world that now has limousines.
  7. JoJojinn says:
The Love rose that I have in my garden is identical to Gindee77's entry. Lovely clear-cut divisions between bright red and whitest white. I have not observed any pink color. Very special and easy to care for rose. If mine has any scent at all it would be very slight. Zone 5b garden. Neutral: On Jun 10, , Joan from Belfield, ND (Zone 4a) wrote.
